How Midnight Wanderer started…
I only started my blog a couple of months ago (and I am so grateful for how much it has grown and how many lovely people I’ve met already in that short time!), I used to run a blog with my friend but we both became so busy that we couldn’t post anymore and I was sad to slowly see it all slip away – we create it for personal use as somewhere to put our thoughts rather than to actually become bloggers as such, but after we discontinued everything I didn’t like not having anywhere to post my thoughts and so after many months of deliberation, I plucked up the courage to start a blog of my own, and here I am! It’s one of the best decisions I’ve made and I’m so glad I had the confidence to create something all by myself, I was never too sure whether people would actually want to know (or care) about what I had to say but I’m so glad you all do and making this blog is something I’ll never regret.
Two pieces of advice for new bloggers…
Even though I’ve only been blogging for a short while myself, if I could give two pieces of advice it would be this…
1). Be yourself
People follow your blog because they like it; they enjoy reading what you post and who you are as a person. The best thing you can do when running a blog is to be yourself and not compromise that for anyone, I feel like after blogging for a while some people lose who they are a bit due to trying to adapt or change themselves to fit in more, which I think is a shame. I would say always be yourself and don’t worry about what other people think.
2). Enjoy it!
Don’t get too caught up in numbers / stats / followers or force yourself to do what everyone else is doing. You started your blog as a hobby, make sure it stays that way! A hobby is something you choose to do because you enjoy it and it’s fun – you like dedicating time to it. Don’t let it become a chore or something you stress out over, if you only want to post once a week then that’s great, don’t force yourself to post daily because you think it’s what everyone else is doing…I’d rather create a post that means something rather than post more frequently just for the sake of it and in turn, produce content that I’ve only created half-heartedly. Have fun with your blog, think of it as an ongoing project.
I’ve been nominated for so many awards lately that I feel like I’m posting them left right and centre, so I don’t want to bombard people with nominations – I nominate any of my lovely followers who want to do this, as I think you all deserve the award for being such lovely people with amazing blogs.
This was a short one but I hope you guys enjoyed nonetheless, and thank you again to Ica for nominating me – I’m so grateful!
All my love,
