Winter Playlist ❄

Hi angels,

Since it’s that time of year again where we all grab out hot chocolates and snuggle underneath blankets as the nights get darker and December is fastly approaching, I thought I’d share a little Winter playlist with you all, these songs either make me feel really Christmassy or get me in the mood for Winter however, I’ll also be doing a Christmas playlist in December just in case this wasn’t enough to get you in a Christmassy mood already. I hope you love these songs just as much as I do ♡

note: I’ve purposely not included actual ‘Christmas’ songs in here because I’m saving those for the other playlist, these ones that I’ve listed just make me feel completely Wintery ❄

…….

Somewhere Only We Know – Lily Allen

If you didn’t know this song before, you definitely do now. Lily Allen’s cover of Somewhere Only We Know (originally by Keane) was the song included in the John Lewis ‘The Bear and The Hare’ Christmas advert of 2013. I love the original of this song but Lily Allen’s voice makes it sound so delicate and wintery, not to mention it just screams Christmas because of its use in the Christmas advert. I love this one so much.

“And if you have a minute why don’t we go, talk about it somewhere only we know. This could be the end of everything, so why don’t we go, somewhere only we know.”

The Power Of Love – Gabrielle Aplin

Gabrielle Aplin’s voice is just so pretty and delicate, this song makes me feel all cold (in a good way) and wintery at the same time. The Power Of Love (originally by Frankie Goes to Hollywood) is actually regarded as a Christmas song, even though it was released in November and actually has no reference to Christmas at all – I think that’s how it’s made it onto this list!

“Dreams are like angels, they keep bad at bay. Love is the light scaring darkness away.”

Yours – Ella Henderson

Again, such a calming and beautiful song. It makes me think of Winter (probably to do with the opening line) and I love the piano in this, this is a really cosy song. If that’s a thing.

“I’ll wear your Winter coat, the one you love to wear, so I keep feeling close to what’s beyond compare. The moment’s waking up, you catch me in your eyes, that beauty on my pillow, that holds me in the night.”

Wings – Birdy

I’m absolutely in love with Birdy, all of her songs are my favourite and they remind of a dark Winter so much, so this one is no exception. I’m listening to it as I’m writing this and ugh, I just love her. Her voice is so cosy and wintery and yep. Just listen.

“Under a trillion stars we danced on top of cars, took pictures of the stage so far from where we are, they made me think of you.”

One Day I’ll Fly Away – Vaults

Another John Lewis Christmas ad! This was the soundtrack to last year’s, it’s originally by Randy Crawford but was covered by Vaults for the advert and I’ve fallen in love with it all over again – naturally, it now reminds me of Winter (and Christmas).

“One day I’ll fly away, leave your love to yesterday. What more can your love do for me, when will love be through with me?”

Dream A Little Dream – Robbie Williams & Lily Allen

This song is just the epitome of Christmas to me, it sounds like something you’d play at the end of Christmas day when everything’s settled down and you’re sat around on the sofa with your family drinking wine and the hazy Christmas lights are twinkling in your eyes. It’s such a beautiful song when sang by the two of them.

“Sweet dreams ’til sunbeams find you, sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you. But in your dreams whatever they be, dream a little dream of me.”

White Winter Hymnal – Birdy

Again, Birdy just screams Winter to me. I could’ve easily included 99% of her songs in this playlist but I’ve controlled myself and just left it to two, I thought I’d include this one because it’s even got Winter in the title so, I couldn’t leave it out could I? This one is almost gospel and just really beautiful and echoey – the epitome of Winter.

“With scarves of red tied ’round their throats, to keep their little heads from falling in the snow, and I turned ’round and there you go and Michael you would fall, and turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime.”

A Thousand Years – Christina Perri

I feel like most people probably associate this song with Twilight (which I’ve actually never seen, don’t judge me) but to me this song just sounds really wintery, it’s soft and sounds like something you’d listen to with snow falling all around you – get what I mean?

“Time stands still, beauty in all she is. I will be brave, I will not let anything take away what’s standing in front of me.”

The Writer – Ellie Goulding

Last one! This song has always reminded me of Winter ever since it first came out in 2010, I don’t really know what it is (I think the actual music video is going for more of a Spring vibe) but hey ho, it reminds me of Winter more than anything. I think because it’s sort of delicate, it just reminds me of it. I feel like I’m sounding weirder and weirder as I’m getting through this post hahahaha, I’ll stop here.

“Why don’t you be the artist and make me out of clay? Why don’t you be the writer, and decide the words I say?”

…….

Hope you enjoyed this little post loves, I’m so excited that it’s basically Winter now as it’s my favourite season. BRING ON THE ICE.

All my love,

Chloe ❄️.xx

(p.s. – thank you so much for 500 followers, you’re all the best xxx)
