blogging as myself

Hi loves,

I’m always inspired when it comes to writing, blogging, coming up with new ideas etc. because I’m constantly inspired by the things around me, and the things around me also include people.

Other people’s creativity sparks your creativity, right? One of my favourite things to do (when I have time) is to watch all of Zoe’s vlogs because they just make me feel so productive and creative, she posted one recently where she talks about her blog and how she’s basically revamping it for 2018. Obviously, as you guys probably already know, Zoe first started out her whole career just blogging for fun, and then she transitioned over to Youtube and everything kinda just went from there and bam, Zoella is now pretty much a household name.

AnywayΒ that’s not the point I was trying to make – I basically just love sitting down and watching her vlogs and seeing her sit in her (huge and beautiful) office just talking about all these upcoming plans and projects she has for the year, it makes me feel so productive and inspired like I just want to get up and create create create, so, I decided to sit down at my desk and write this.

So at the beginning of this vlog she talks about her blog, which she doesn’t really talk about that much anymore so the second I heard her start talking about it I was like YES LET’S HEAR IT GIRL. Anyway, it got me thinking about the fact that I really want to make my blog the best it can be, for no other reason than to be personally 100% content with it and knowing that I’m doing the best I can with my little corner of the internet. I initially started blogging (10 months ago now!!) so that I could share my thoughts and words with other people and basically, just have somewhere to release my creativity. I still want to do that of course, but now I want to expand it by essentially putting a face to the name.Β  I’m not talking about creating a brand here, just something a bit more personal as in, I want people to instantly know who I am rather than having to look at my social medias or following me on Instagram to know what I look like. Get what I mean?

I’m pretty personal on here anyway, and I class all of you as friends who I absolutely love talking to, but I’d just like to go that extra step further and put myself out there a bit more, you know? I’ll be the first to say it, I’m not (and probably never will be) a beauty or a fashion blogger, it’s not really my thing – I love writing and rambling and sharing thoughts, rather than posting makeup looks or outfits of the day, just because the former comes more naturally to me and is definitely what I’m more passionate about and because of this, I guess I just have this fear of putting myself (as in my image / face / whatever) out there, because I don’t necessarily feel like I need to. My blog doesn’t require it as such, the content I produce never really calls for selfies or pictures of myself or my outfits so therefore, I just don’t do it – that and the fact I’m also kind of shy to make the jump because I’m a little self conscious with those kind of things.

I really want to continue to grow this blog as much as I can and be more personal, I want people to be able to put a face to the name and so I guess that means putting more of my face actually out there – but where to start? I’d really like to use my other social medias as a platform for my blog as well, but I just kind of feel iffy about the whole thing because I’m not necessarily trying to market myself or sell myself as a brand or a blogger, I just like writing and sharing my thoughts with people. You know?

Anyway, thanks for listening to this little ramble, if you have any advice it would beΒ greatlyΒ appreciated because I’m not even sure what I was trying to say in this post – I just needed somewhere to put my thoughts!

If you’re looking for a little inspiration I’d definitely recommend going and checking out Zoe’s vlog (2:30 – 15:00) for a little push, she definitely always makes me feel productive and excited for things I can potentially create / work on in future!

All my love,

Chloe .xx

I always feel like your blog has a very distinctive personality, which especially shows through your writing style and you should be very happy with yourself because developing a unique tone is tricky! The main asset of bloggers is their personalities which is what makes individuals stand out as opposed to adherence to a specific niche and as you said, using photos of yourself and/or having a specific social media brand is not the only way to make a blog unique. Wonderful and thoughtful post as always xox

I completely relate to wanting to improve your blog. I always feel like my blog isn’t coming out the way I want it, be that in terms of writing style, blog layout, etc. I think your blog is amazing as it is, but being more personal is never a bad thing if that is what you want!

I feel like even without a photographic presence your blog already has the mark of you! Your writing is so vulnerable and personal and distinct, each time I settle into reading one of your posts I feel the presence of “Chloe” and feel as if I know you! x

Your blog is so amazing! I know I shouldn’t compare but I wish my blog was half as cool lol. Also Don’t feel the pressure to show your face here until/unless you want to. I didn’t for awhile on my blog so I get you there xoxo

I love reading your thoughts and opinions because more often than not they mirror my own. I too could never label myself as a beauty/fashion blogger. I’m just not that kind of person which makes it even more difficult to define what it is I actually write about. I struggled a long time with finding a fitting description but what I have now come to realize is that the freedom I created for myself via my blog -a place without restrictions where I can share whatever random thought pops into my head – that is me. The less I label my blog the more authentic it is. Lovely post as always xx

Couldn’t have said it better myself – I just kind of write about anything and everything! You took the words right out of my mouth, I spoke about this moooonths ago when I first started my blog and I was like…I don’t fit in?! But then I realised that I didn’t need to define what I create and that’s the whole beauty of having this blog – freedom to post whatever I want. Thank you so much lovely πŸ’›xx
