my 7th & 8th tattoos (god is a woman)

Hi loves,

Now, I made a post last week about my sixth tattoo, but I also mentioned I got two other tattoos along with it and would do a post on those shortly.

Well, hi. Here’s the post.

So my seventh and eighth tattoos are tiny, hence why I’ve grouped them together, the first one I’m gonna talk about is the Venus female sex symbol on my middle finger (yes ladies, you know what’s up) and this to me first and foremost, represents God is a woman.

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

Age = 20
Placement =
Right middle finger
Pain = 2/10
Price = I had 3 tattoos in total at this appointment and it cost me £50 altogether

Now, before anyone starts getting a little fidgety about the phrase (it’s all love here in Chlo’s corner) let me just put a lil disclaimer out here as follows –

Are we good? We’re good. Anyway, as you all know I am a feminist and will fight for women’s rights forever and I also love the absolute f*ck out of Ariana Grande. She’s the love of my life and the empowering queen we all need, literally, she’s going to save us all and I for one am ready to be saved.

So, I’ve been wanting to get a feminism / female themed tattoo for a while now (I don’t really know what I want though so I’m working on some art and ideas etc.) and I also wanted to get something for Ari at some point too (because she’s the light of my life and I’ve loved her forever) – with Ari I didn’t wanna get anything obvious, just something little that I know represents her however, I  couldn’t really decide on anything but I also wasn’t in a rush – I’d never get a tattoo just for the sake of it.

But then low and behold, she gave us God is a woman.

This song. This. song. I can’t describe it. It’s otherworldly, it’s art. When Ari released her No Tears Left To Cry video she included a little sneak peak of the tracklist to Sweetener (her latest album – if you haven’t listened to it yet then what are you doing wasting time reading this, GO)

One of the tracks you could make out on the list was “God is a woman” (yanno, cause it’s underlined 3 times). I for one took this phrase and ran with it, and I mean ran. The song hadn’t even been released yet but I knew it was going to be the best thing I’d ever heard in my entire life, I swear I was chanting God is a woman in my sleep, I was so excited because like I said, I knew it was going to be the empowering feminist anthem we all needed, the anthem I needed. The first time I heard it I cried tears of I don’t even know what – excitement, joy, and pure love. It’s not a sad song, far from it, but it gave me so many chills I just found myself sitting there with tears falling down my face because I was like oh my god, she’s going to save us all. It was like an out of body experience – there’s a part at the end of the song where her voice is layered on top of each other so that it sounds like a heavenly choir and all she’s singing is “God is a woman, God is a woman, you’ll believe God is a woman” and the waterworks started and I was crying and laughing and feeling like I could take on the whole entire world singing God is a woman. I just felt like I was encompassed in light. Like I said, it was like an out of body experience, I’ve never felt so empowered, ever. I love her so much. She’s going to save us all, I’m telling you right now.

Anyway, this meant so much to me – I wanted to get something to represent the Sweetener era anyway because this is my favourite one yet, it’s full of love, peace, acceptance and growth. Just pure love and good energy and I am so here for it. Obviously, God is a woman came out before the album was released but I knew I wanted to get something separate to represent that song anyway, I was toying with the idea of tattooing “giaw” somewhere but then I kind of had a lightbulb moment and realised that I didn’t have to get something that actually represented the song, in order to represent the song. Does that make sense?

I’d been wanting finger tattoos for a while but was still figuring out what to get and then I remembered that I’d seen people with the female symbol on their fingers (mostly their middle ones) and I thought you know what, this is the tattoo that’s going to represent God is a woman. Just because it doesn’t directly say the words doesn’t mean it can’t represent that. Obviously, it’s the female symbol on my middle finger as a massive fuck you to anyone who tries to oppress or disrespect women because they’re literal goddesses and like I said, I’m a feminist forever, but the hidden meaning is that it represents Ariana’s song, God is a woman. So yes, when people ask what it means I do tell them that (whoops).

Ari also has this tattoo herself on the middle finger of her left hand which surprisingly, didn’t really play into it when I was deciding if I was going to get it or not. I knew she had it but it wasn’t until GIAW came out that it just sealed the deal for me and I thought yeah, I am going to get the female symbol on my middle finger, because fuck you. I would have gotten it done regardless of whether Ari had it herself or not but it’s just a nice little extra that she does, because now we match.♡

And again, a little disclaimer because we only spread love and light here –

And don’t even get me started on the video. Prepare to watch and be amazed. This is art, ladies and gentlemen. I’ve never seen anything so beautiful in all my life.

When all is said and done, you’ll believe God is a woman.

hi hello yes does anyone know how difficult it is to take a picture of the back of your own ankle ?? that’s all

Age = 20
Placement =
Back of left ankle
Pain = 1/10
Price = I had 3 tattoos in total at this appointment and it cost me £50 altogether

And for my eighth tattoo? The meaning of this came about in a strange way for me but again, the universe works in crazy ways. The initial meaning for this tattoo was that actually, it didn’t have one – I just really like eyes. I always get compliments on them, they’re my favourite thing about myself and I think in general they’re just beautiful and poetic – the window to the soul, I always thought the ‘cartoon’ type tattoos of them looked super cool and I’d seen many different photos of tattoos like it for years and just really wanted one, something little and quirky I guess, kind of like someone’s always watching my back and that I’ve got eyes in the back of my head (except I haven’t, just one on the back of my ankle) but you get the idea.

However,

I wrote about this way more in depth here but if you don’t fancy reading that, here’s a short summary…

If you’ve been following my love for Kpop and read this post recently, you’ll know how much things affected me regarding the death of Jonghyun – I spoke about it in depth in that post. Since that whole thing I knew I wanted to get a little tattoo tribute because I felt compelled to, basically. It affected me so much I just wanted to give my whole heart to SHINee and also a space on my body too because I just felt so compelled. I wanted to do it at some point but had nothing in place – it was just something in the back of my mind that I knew I wanted to do when an idea came around, but as of that moment I had nothing.

However,

About 3 weeks after I got the eye tattoo I discovered a song I really loved called “Odd Eye” by SHINee (which I hadn’t heard until that point) and I just fell in love with it, it instantly became one of my favourite songs by them (on what is now, also my favourite album from them). I hadn’t payed attention to the song name at the time as I was just randomly listening to their music but when I saw the title I was like huh, that’s a coincidence, as I’d wanted to get something to represent them at some point anyway. Apart from falling in love with the song I then learned that it was actually written and composed by Jonghyun himself which blew my mind even more because it was like…fate. I wanted a tattoo and here it was, it had literally happened all by itself. I just got an eye tattooed on myself with no meaning but I was looking for a tattoo with a meaning to represent something and then I fell in love with the song called Odd Eye written and composed by the person I wanted a tattoo for in the first place and I was like…what just happened. Universe, you’ve outdone yourself again. Everything just fell into place at the right time and I got what I was looking for without even realising. That’s what you call magic.

So this here, is my Odd Eye, for obvious reasons.

Thank you universe.

All my love,

Chloe .xx

  1. I love the first tattoo – my sister actually has the same symbol on her wrist and she is one of the biggest feminists I know. The second tattoo reminds me of A Series of Unfortunate Events – although not in a bad way. I thought perhaps you might have been inspired by the books. xx

      1. It was so popular when I was in year 8/9. I would recommend checking out either the movie or the tv show (it is on netflix) if you like mysterious shows. It is a weird storyline for sure but certainly different. Xx

  3. This post was amazing 😍❤️ You explained the meaning of your tattoos so beautifully. Ariana is the best 💕 I really love her so much. She’s so talented and such a sweet girl who is going to save us all. I agree a thousands times with you. Her new album is really amazing. That song is amazing and the video omg sooo beautiful 😍😱 I also have never seen a videoclip of a song look so perfect. It’s definitely art. It’s great that you have the same tattoo as her. Girl power forever 💪👧 The future is female. I also loved the eye tattoo. Eyes are beautiful but sometimes I find it scarry to look someone deeply into the eyes especially blue eyes.

  4. CHLOE OH MY FREAKING GOSH THEY ARE GORGEOUS. This made me love you even more (if that’s even possible) because our taste is just SO similar. I have been wanting a tattoo to represent the fact that I’m proud to be a woman and a feminist for a while now and Ariana’s is literally on my tattoo mood board! I have been loving the fact that you have been documenting your tattoo collection, these posts just always make me want to get all of the tattoos I’ve been wanting for so long right away! And btw, I’ve never actually tried to take a picture of my own ankle but now I am strangely intrigued…? Is that weird? xxx
