my favourite book quotes #2

Hi loves,

You may remember a while ago I made a post called my favourite book quotes, well, I’ve read a lot more books since then and I’ve found many new quotes I love so hi, greetings, hello, here are some more book quotes I’ve fallen in love with (and I hope you do too).

Call Me By Your Name – Andre Aciman

“We had the stars, you and I. And this is given once only.”

“He came. He left. Nothing else had changed. I had not changed. The world hadn’t changed. Yet nothing would be the same. All that remains is dreammaking and strange remembrance.”

“People who read are hiders. They hide who they are. People who hide don’t always like who they are.”

“Maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it was the truth, maybe I didn’t want things to turn abstract, but I felt I should say it, because this was the moment to say it, because it suddenly dawned on me that this was why I had come, to tell him ‘You are the only person I’d like to say goodbye to when I die, because only then will this thing I call my life make any sense. And if I should hear that you died, my life as I know it, the me who is speaking with you now, will cease to exist.”

“I’m like you,” he said. “I remember everything.”
I stopped for a second. If you remember everything, I wanted to say, and if you are really like me, then before you leave tomorrow, or when you’re just ready to shut the door of the taxi and have already said goodbye to everyone else and there’s not a thing left to say in this life, then, just this once, turn to me, even in jest, or as an afterthought, which would have meant everything to me when we were together, and, as you did back then, look me in the face, hold my gaze, and call me by your name.”

Zelda Fitzgerald

“I remember every single spot of light that ever gouged a shadow beside your bones.”

“All I want to be is very young always and very irresponsible and to feel that my life is my own to live and be happy and die in my own way to please myself.”

“Thanks again for saving me. Someday, I’ll save you too.”

“I love you anyway-  even if there isn’t any me or any love or even any life-
I love you.”

“Something in me vibrates to a dusky, dreamy smell of dying moons and shadows.”

“Why is there happiness and comfort and excitement where you are and no where else in the world?”

Other

“She had wild eyes, slightly insane. She also carried an overload of compassion that was real enough and which obviously cost her something.” – Charles Bukowski, Women

“That is part of the beauty of all literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you’re not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald

“I am so clever that sometimes I don’t understand a single word of what I am saying.” – Oscar Wilde, The Happy Prince and Other Stories

“I feel ill,” (Howl) announced. “I’m going to bed, where I may die.” – Diana Wynne Jones, Howl’s Moving Castle

“I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in my life. And I am horribly limited.” – Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath

“ARE YOU CRAZY?” I asked. He gave me the same wordless look he always did when I asked that question.”Richelle Mead, Spirit Bound

“It feels like forever since I’ve been “here” without being “there” and “there too” and “what about there.” – Huntley Fitzpatrick, What I Thought Was True

“Anyway, I keep picturing all these little kids playing some game in this big field of rye and all. Thousands of little kids, and nobody’s around – nobody big, I mean – except me. And I’m standing on the edge of some crazy cliff. What I have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff – I mean if they’re running and they don’t look where they’re going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. That’s all I do all day. I’d just be the catcher in the rye and all. I know it’s crazy, but that’s the only thing I’d really like to be.” – J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye
