Music of the Month – June

Hi angels,

Here’s the music I’ve been listening to and loving in June!

mother’s daughter – miley cyrus

She’s back !! The queen is back and I’m so ready. I literally love Miley Cyrus more than life, honestly. This song is so insanely good, I’ve had it on repeat non-stop.

d.r.e.a.m. – miley cyrus ft. ghostface killah

Same with this one – it’s so soft and beautiful and please can this woman just sing me to sleep every night. Thanks.

flawless – beyonce ft. chimamanda ngozi adichie

As you guys will know if you saw last month’s music post, I’ve been listening to a lot of Beyonce recently. This one actually fell about differently (and very coincidentally) because I was reading a book on a TED Talk about feminism – after I’d read this mini book of what was essentially the transcript, I wanted to watch the actual speech itself and so I did. I then discovered that part of the speech had been included in Beyonce’s song Flawless and therefore I’m now including it in this post. This woman never fails to amaze me.

your side of the bed – loote

Jungkook used this song in his G.C.F. Osaka video and I reeeeally liked it, it’s so catchy and I’ve played it so many times since I heard it. Thanks JK.

bounce back – little mix

I feel like the theme for this month’s songs is catchy because yet again this is such a bop, I also love how they’ve sampled Back To life in it and I think it fits the song so well – makes it 10x better than it was already!

gone 2 long – prettymuch

These guys always make it into my monthly music posts as you’ll all know (because they’re just that good) and this is another song off their EP Phases. I watched them do an acoustic / live version of it and it really made me appreciate the song as a whole and the production behind it, I’ve been listening to it a lot ever since! Also, the intro is really catchy. Kudos to whoever came up with that.

you need to calm down – taylor swift

If you’ve read my unpopular opinions post from a while back you’ll know that T Swift’s style of music after the Red / 1989 era really didn’t do it for me and I haven’t really liked anything she’s released in the past couple of years since (which sucks because I think she’s great) but this song is so good !! I was so pleasantly surprised by it and of course, I absolutely love the message behind it. 10/10.

senorita – shawn mendes ft. camila cabello

If this isn’t one of the best MVs I’ve ever seen then what is. Apart from this song being so insanely good I just love the whole vibe around it and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve played it so far, I swear it’s all I’ve listened to. Going back to the MV – um yes. I’m here for it. I stan. Camila is so gorgeous and I just love the whole vibe she has going on (Shawn Mendes too, of course) – these two never fail to create a great song and I’m so glad they’ve collaborated again. I love this so much!

nightmare – halsey live lounge

I included this in last month’s music post because I absolutely love it but I had to include it here again since Halsey did a cover of it in the live lounge and it made me love and understand the song in a whole new way. Both versions are so impactful but this one really got me and I was hanging on to every word she said, and I just felt like I understood the whole thing in a completely different way. I absolutely love it. Thank you Halsey.

stop – spice girls

If you’re from the UK you know that it’s been Spice Girl mania the past couple of months and so naturally, a Spice Girls song was eventually going to make it onto the list. It’s been stuck in my head for ages (and yes, I have been dancing around my room to it).

JoBros

I feel like this is the best comeback the Jonas Brothers could have asked for since they’re absolutely killing it right now – they released their new album this month and there isn’t a bad song on there, everything is a bop – here are my top 3.

only human – jonas brothers

The sounds in this are so catchy, I swear the chorus has been stuck in my head for weeks – I’ve had it on repeat non-stop.

used to be – jonas brothers

Again, super duper catchy.

don’t throw it away – jonas brothers

I love the sound of this, it reminds me of something you’d hear in a movie.

Korean

ah yeah – winner

I’ve been getting into Winner a fair bit these past few weeks and Ah Yeah just happens to be their most recent comeback – I am a huge fan. So catchy whilst also not being too in your face for a title track but I think that’s just Winner’s vibe in general. I really loove it.

who do u love – monsta x ft. french montana

Apparently no one in Kpop wanted me to live this month because again, excuse me???? How dare they keep releasing English songs looking like that. Right in front of my salad. No idea why French Montana is singing about titties in the middle of the song but I’ll get over it. And let’s not talk about the music video because I can’t cope. I have a life to live Shownu. Stop it.

all night – bts ft. juice wrld

Of course my favourite soundtrack song was going to be the one with Joon and Yoongi on it, of course it was. This is so freaking good like ????? Can we stop this. Rap line stop. BTS just stop. Let me live. Please.

4 ‘o’ clock – rm, v

I mentioned this song before in my Soundcloud playlist but I was really exhausted the other day and wanted something to fall asleep to and this was instantly the first track that popped into my head so I’m including it here too. The most beautiful lullaby ever.

superhuman – nct 127

Took me a while to ease myself into this one (hence why I didn’t include it in a music post when it first came out) but it’s slowly grown on me a lot and now here we are. I appreciate this song a lot and feel like they’ve done such a good job with it, I think their style is evolving really nicely and the direction they’re heading in gets a 10/10 from me.

knock on – nct 127

A hidden gem that I always forget exists but absolutely love whenever I end up hearing it again – I’ve been making a conscious effort to play it a ton this month because I always end up forgetting it’s there even though I seriously love it.

All my love,

Chloe .xx

  5. I love how diverse your music taste it, I can definitely relate to it. I love Miley Cyrus’s new album and Taylor’s new song. I didn’t really like the first one she released, ME!, did you?

    1. Thank you so much! No, I didn’t like it at all! After 1989 Taylor’s songs were very much hit and miss for me (more miss than anything), I really wasn’t a fan of Me at all, was a bit too cliche for my liking! xx

  6. I always love these posts of you so much! 😍 Of course, I’m also including Señorita and You need to calm down in my music favourites of this month. I love Taylor Swift so much. I liked the reputation album but I also loved the country era and I can’t wait for her new album which I think will be more in that way again. Señorita is such a nice song and Shawn and Camilla are so amazing! I will listen to Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers too! Thank you for the awesome music 🎶

    1. I’m definitely interested in hearing her new music – hopefully I’ll be able to get back into her again because I really do love her old stuff !! 100% agree on Nightmare, that’s why I think I love it so much – reminds me a lot of Pink back in the early 2000s!! xx
