Hi loves,
As it’s the beginning of a new year I thought now would be a good time to upload this post, a while ago, (as in, 2017) I made a post called how to gain ideas for blog posts. This ‘part 2’ as such has been sitting in my drafts ever since then and I thought it was about time I actually finished it up, so, without further ado, here’s how to gain ideas for blog posts part 2!
☼
See what others are doing
Use the most available tool out there – your fellow bloggers! What are they writing about? What’s the current trend in the blogging world? I don’t mean copy what other people are doing, just use them as inspiration for your own writing. For example, the other month Priya made a Spotify wrapped post and I was like wow that’s a really good idea, I’m gonna have a look and see what mine is! Thousands of posts are uploaded every day in the blogging world, there’s going to be at least one you can become inspired by and give your own take on. If there’s a trend going around (little tip – “if we were having coffee” is a huge one) then do that! Take inspiration from the people you’re surrounded by. Like I said, don’t copy them by any means, but take a look at what’s currently going on in the blogosphere and see what you can do with it.
☼
Start a mini series
Something I’ve started doing over the past year on my blog is starting mini series – aka, you can essentially get 10 blog posts out of just one idea. What’s better than that?! There’s a lot of things I want to talk about that I’m like hmm…I know just one blog post isn’t going to be enough for this because I’m going to want to come back to it / add things to it later. So what do I do? A mini series!
☼
Monthly Wrap Ups
What are the songs you’ve been loving this month? What are your favourite trends this month? What movies did you watch this month? Which books did you read? What are your favourite photos that you’ve taken this month? If you take just 3 of those monthly wrap up ideas and do them for each month of the year. That’s 36 blog posts alone! So simple and easy to do!
☼
Part 2s & 3s
If you have a good post idea but it’s too long, or you think of other things to add to it afterwards…make a part 2! Or 3! Even this blog post itself is a part 2 as I already did one of these last year, but I had more points I wanted to add afterwards and thought why not make a part 2? Have you written a blog post that you’ve like to write more about? Part 2 here you come!
☼
Trends / Seasons
Probably one of the easiest ways to gain blog post ideas – trends and seasons! When it gets to December? Milk Christmas blog post ideas until you’re all Christmassed out. Halloween? Easter? Valentine’s day? Spring? Summer? Fall? The ideas are endless! If you’re creating blog posts by trends and seasons, you’re always going to be creating something current. People are always going to be interested!
☼
Moodboards
I’ve never made one of these myself but I love seeing other people’s and it’s such a quick and simple thing to do. Again, ties in with my above point but you can do seasonal moodboards, mood reflective moodboards, trends, colours etc. You name it. No writing involved, just lots of visuals…and who doesn’t love visuals? Sometimes it’s nice to have a break from words for a while.
☼
Use Videos
A point I mentioned in my last ideas post was to use visuals, but what I didn’t mention, was videos. Something I’ve been doing a lot recently is using videos to inspire my writing. For example, TED Talks – I watch so many of those things I might as well be an ambassador. I wanted to talk about them and so through using them in my post, I was able to do that. Another one – f*ckboys, I saw a video on Youtube that I really wanted to share and so thought I’d write a post on it. I’m sure you all watch Youtube and Netflix just like I do, so if you see something you really like and want to talk about – do it!
☼
That’s all I have for now loves! Let me know if you like these and be sure to share your own tips if you have some!
All my love,
Chloe .xx
